The IHC is accepting applications for 2025-26 graduate instructors to teach in the Foundations in the Humanities program.
Application deadline: 5:00 PM, March 5, 2025.
Foundations in the Humanities, sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center, is a series of three courses in literary studies for people incarcerated in California prisons. Graduate students accepted into the program serve for one year as paid mentors and instruct via correspondence. The program is active in all California State Prisons.
Graduate students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences who are interested in social justice and would like the opportunity to study and practice an alternative pedagogy in a space outside of the university are encouraged to apply. Once accepted into the program, students will be designated Graduate Teaching Fellows. Fellows will participate in training during spring quarter before they begin their teaching. They will register for a one-credit course that meets weekly on Wednesdays from 8:00-9:00 AM. Fellows will also meet in the fall to continue their training. Participation in the training course and meetings is mandatory.
