The IHC is accepting applications for 2024-25 graduate instructors to teach in the Foundations in the Humanities program.
Application deadline: 5:00 PM, May 27, 2024.
Foundations in the Humanities, sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center, is a series of three courses in literary studies for people incarcerated in California prisons. Graduate students accepted into the program serve for one year as paid mentors and instruct via correspondence. The program is active in all thirty-four California State Prisons.
Humanities graduate students who are interested in social justice and would like the opportunity to teach in diverse modes and institutions are encouraged to apply. Once accepted into the program, students will be designated Graduate Teaching Fellows. Fellows will be trained through four workshops before they begin their teaching. They will also meet once per quarter to continue their training. Participation in the training workshops and meetings is mandatory.
