Isla Vista Arts’ Word Magazine Honored with Awards for Excellence in Student Journalism

Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) has awarded WORD Magazine, the student-run magazine of UCSB’s Isla Vista Arts program, a prestigious second place for general excellence in the Literary and Creative Arts Magazine category and third place for the People’s Choice Award judged against all types of student media. ACP handed out the award at their summer workshop at the School of Journalism at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on July 20, 2024.

These national honors recognize Word Magazine as a leading publication in collegiate journalism, showcasing its outstanding achievement in writing and visual design.

Since its inception 18 years ago, Word Magazine has served as a dynamic platform for the creative expression and intellectual engagement of UCSB’s students. Under the guidance of Isla Vista Arts Director, Anna Jensen, Word Magazine remains committed to upholding the highest standards of journalism while reflecting the diverse interests and concerns of our campus community and beyond.
