Morimoto’s research examines language use and body behavior in multiparty social interaction both in everyday conversations and in institutional (judicial) contexts. She has been working on videotaped data of informal meetings as well as deliberations between professional judges and citizen jurors under the new legal system that started three years ago in Japan.
