Organization: The Grace Fisher Foundation

The Grace Fisher Foundation (GFF) empowers individuals with disabilities by providing free access to music, art, dance, and other artistic programs in our state-of-the-“art” facility, The Inclusive Clubhouse. We are dedicated to fostering an accessible and welcoming space that promotes community inclusion, education, creative expression, and self-discovery. Through the arts, we aim to enrich lives, celebrate diversity, and build a vibrant community where everyone can explore their potential and connect with others. The Hidden Haven initiative is a new initiative in collaboration with the Santa Barbara Education Fund (SBEF) and Santa Barbara Unified School District (SBUSD) to create sensory rooms at all SBUSD sites inspired by the Hidden Haven multi-sensory retreat at The Inclusive Arts Clubhouse.

Position: Inclusive Arts and Wellness Centers Fellow

The Inclusive Arts and Wellness Centers Fellow will assist with all aspects of expanding the Hidden Haven initiative: building the model for the sensory rooms, identifying spaces at each school site, researching materials, inventorying supplies, and supporting installation. The Grace Fisher Foundation has established a model for this program; the Fellow will consult with the GFF Founder and Executive Director and work closely with SBEF staff, SBUSD teachers, principals, and administrators, and arts organization representatives to implement the initiative across the district. The Fellow will design assessment materials to evaluate the program’s effectiveness for students, teachers, staff, and families and to develop ideas and insights for program expansion and improvement.

The Inclusive Arts and Wellness Centers Fellow will complete the internship in 200 total hours, beginning in June 2025.
