Food Justice: A New Social Movement Takes Root

In today’s food system, farm workers face hazardous conditions, low-income neighborhoods lack supermarkets but abound in fast food franchises, and food products are developed to be convenient rather than wholesome. Opposing these inequities and excesses, a movement for food justice has emerged, which seeks to transform our food system from field to table. Robert Gottlieb discusses the increasing disconnect between food and the rising resistance movement.
