14 Apr Call for Submissions: Asian/American Studies Collective Graduate Student Symposium
June 4, 2022 | Location TBD
The Asian/American Studies Collective (AASC) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites submissions for our Graduate Student Symposium on topics concerning Asian American studies, broadly defined. This one-day symposium will offer an informal environment for graduate students to come together, share research, and build a scholarly and social community around Asian/American Studies.
We encourage graduate students of all stages to participate and are offering a variety of different formats for presentation. Possible presentation formats include:
-a 15-minute conference panel presentation
-a 5- to 7-minute lightning round presentation on a work-in-progress
-a 10-minute roundtable presentation with prepared responses to fellow discussant works
-any further suggested format for presenting creative and/or scholarly work
Presentations can be works-in-progress, about questions in one’s own research, or practice conference and job talks. We particularly welcome participation from graduate students in our home and sibling University of California campuses and other geographically proximate institutions.
Attendance at the symposium is free, and the AASC can support participants with small reimbursements for travel costs and opportunities for free overnight accommodation in Santa Barbara.
Please reach out to aasc.ucsb@gmail.com with any questions about the symposium or submissions.
