Position: Marketing and Communications Fellow
The Santa Barbara Foundation Marketing and Communications Fellow will work in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications team, under the Marketing and Communications Manager, to focus on contributing to the Foundation’s content library.
The Foundation’s storytelling serves to inform our audience of donors, nonprofits, and collaborators about the impact of the Foundation’s work. The Santa Barbara Foundation communication strategies include content published in a quarterly donor newsletter, blog posts, press releases, social media channels, among others.
The Fellow will be tasked with ideating, sourcing, researching, and writing storytelling-focused communications, aligned with the Foundation’s Strategic Plan, for use across all Santa Barbara Foundation channels. Additionally, the fellow may be tasked with assisting the Marketing and Communications team with other projects such as updating the Photo Archive.
The Fellow will gain insight into how mission-driven work comes to life through engaging storytelling. Other skills learned along the way include content strategy, brand implementation, agility, big-picture thinking, and general best practices in marketing. This fellowship opportunity is ideal for someone with strong writing skills and a self-starter attitude.
Internship Objectives:
- Develop knowledge and skills in marketing and communication
- Write press releases, blog posts, social media content, email marketing, earned media communications, collateral design and more in alignment with the Foundation’s goals
- Gain professional experience in nonprofit and community foundation marketing and fundraising support
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and independent work environment
The internship will take place for ten weeks (20 hours/week) beginning in June 2025.
