Senses and Sensibilities in the Middle Ages

Senses and Sensibilities in the Middle Ages

Saturday, May 7 / 9:00 AM
McCune Conference Room, HSSB

This one-day interdisciplinary conference will explore the senses, sensibilities, and the dynamic relationship between the two, in the middle ages.  We will explore the problems of the senses, sentience, emotion and knowledge production in a period before the rigid dichotomizing of emotional and empirical epistemological models.  Our keynote speaker, Kathleen Biddick, is Professor of History at Temple University and will give a talk entitled, “While the Archive Gently Weeps: Seeing Tears in Biopolitics.”  Please join us for an exciting series of papers.

Sponsored by IHC, Graduate Division, Medieval Studies, Department of History, Department of English.
